My child likes to turn everything into a song. She also loves playing the role of the teacher to prove that she knows a concept, which adds much more time to our routine but I realized how much she enjoys "playing school" and that it is really valuable to learning and building her confidence and leadership skills.
When my oldest daughter (9) starts taking hours to complete a lesson is usually means she's bored and needs to move up a grade. Then when I do move her up she get nostalgic and sometimes go back and do the lower grade work for fun. Go figure.
