State Laws, I suppose. I so want to teach WHAT I want to teach, for HOW LONG I want to teach. I don't find following laws like 900 hours a year or 180 days particularly helpful. I'd rather concentrate on the child and whether he is grasping concepts or enjoying what he's learning. It feels like a burden on my back. Curriculum choices can also be confusing. It really stressed me out seeing practically EVERY option claiming to be award-winning. I also always worried about if I was covering everything. Until I realized that my husband and I both graduated from the same school system, different schools, and actually had DIFFERENT requirements. Seeing that, made me realize I could relax a bit. Also having had read a few different books on education, I realized that even the experts disagree. So I feel much more free to 'do it my way'. :)
