Hey Mom, have questions about Homeschooling? Here’s what other moms had to say.

How do you balance your kids’ unique quiet time needs?

Tina

I really don’t have “quiet time” set aside for my children. If they are fighting or getting on each other’s nerves I then send them each to their rooms for a bit.

We have quiet time most afternoons during which everyone goes to their own room for an hour or so. There, they can play, read, nap, or do whatever they want as long as they are very quiet in case someone else is napping. This time is also without any type of electronics (television or otherwise) so they truly get a break from everything. It took some time for my youngest to get used to having to entertain herself for an hour or so, but now that the schedule is established, everyone complies with minimal complaints.

My children are like night and day at times. My son hates to be alone, he loves to have someone there all the time. My daughter loves her alone time, she is an introvert at times and needs that time. He could breathe the air from her lungs, that's how much he loves her. She loves him too, but she needs her space, she is not one for a lot of touching and hugging. So it can be difficult at time for them to get their unique quiet time especially because they share a room. But we have created some comfy space for our daughter in the closet so she can go in there with the stuffies and sit and read, while he can still sit and play with his cars or action figures. Sometimes he takes that opportunity for cuddles with me :) It is definitely a work in progress as the grow older but we work on it.
