Hey Mom, have questions about Homeschooling? Here’s what other moms had to say.

How is your personal learning style different from your kids’?

Jeannette

I am a reader. If I can read the directions on how to do something, I have it down. I can also do hands on as well. I can take something apart and put it back together again with ease... my son is the same way... he can read and do his work no problem. my daughter is highly auditory learner. she puts things to music and sings while she learns... she is dyslexic and has a hard time putting things down on paper. I get frustrated when trying to teach her. I have done so much research to find things that will help her to learn the basics, cooking has been wonderful because she likes to invent recipes.... and when they fail...she tries again. finding what she likes to do has helped a lot.

My daughter is an auditory learner. My son and I are visual learners so it is always hard for me to adjust. She also has learning delays and most of the advice I read has to do with visual processing. Teaching math to an auditory learner is VERY challenging.

So very different! I learned best by reading something once on my own. My kids want to learn with me right there, and have to hear it several times, especially my daughter, who will forget things a few days after working hard on them.
